Growing up in the Steppe, as the locals will tell you, is not for the faint of heart. This life full of hardship was like second nature to the young Arasen of the Hotgo, who showed great promise of becoming a proud warrior like his father before him.However, he wouldn't see his dream realized thanks to the Dotharl tribe, whose warriors were parched for bloodshed. An evening ambush saw many of Arasen's friends and family meet their end. Arasen himself managed to flee with his young ten-summer-old sister - only for her to succumb to her wounds by morning.With nobody else to guide him, Arasen wandered the Steppe until he found himself in the grand city of Kugane. Here, he adopted the new name of Ryce, and worked for an elderly couple for a handful of years. Once they passed, however, he was left with enough coin to pay passage to Eorzea.Alone yet again, Ryce found his way to Ul'dah - and more importantly, the Pugilists' Guild. Here, he began making a true name for himself by pledging his services to the Immortal Flames, working his way up the ranks, and occasionally partaking in a match or two in the arena.His reputation however saw him as more of a playboy than anything else. Ryce was known by many to frequent the local bars, and on no few occasions did he bring someone home with him or find himself in someone else's bed. Haunted by his past, Ryce also sought to drink away his sorrows, to the point where his peers worried for his sanity.In an effort to give him a change of pace, Ryce was sent on a brief mission to Limsa Lominsa to delegate on behalf of the Flames. It was here that he met Solana Valerian.The two hit it off quickly, and found a certain kind of comfort in each other from their equally painful pasts. A saucy situationship turned quickly into something more genuine and before anyone knew it, Ryce and Solana settled down together in Ul'dah.Now, Ryce maintains his rank in the Immortal Flames and tends to keep close to Thanalan as much as possible. He can often be found wandering the streets of the city, ensuring that his people are safe and happy. He proudly bears his title as "The Dragon of Ul'dah", and meets any threats head-on... All while being the father of his seven amazing children.
